Welcome to Irchester Class...

In Irchester class you will always find our year 1 and 2 children actively involved and engaged with their learning. Their class teacher is Miss Arnold and their teaching assistant is Miss Errington. In the Spring term the class theme is title ‘Pole to Pole’. Throughout the topic the children will have the opportunity to learn about the Arctic and the animals that live there as well as freezing Antarctica and the explorers who travelled there. In science, they will be finding out about the different animal classifications, animal diets and which animals live where. Later on during the topic the children will find out about the adventures of Captain Scott during this expedition to Antarctica. They will have the opportunity to create energy bars to fuel explorers during their travels. We have lots of exciting learning opportunities planned and can’t wait to get started.

In year 1/2 we set the following homework expectations:

Daily reading at home to an adult which is recorded in your child's planner

Maths work set on Numbots

Weekly spellings to lean

Reading comprehension tasks - year 2 only (starts from the Spring term)
