Welcome to Irchester Class...

In Irchester, the year 2 children with Mrs Scott and Miss Blain, will be stepping back in time into a Victorian classroom. They will learn how schools have changed, before learning about the reign of Queen Victoria and the people and events that shaped how we live today. Inspired by the artist representations of Queen Victoria, the children will also look at portraits and develop their skills to create their own portrait gallery.

After half term, they will look at the work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, designing and building our own bridges to carry our train safely across. They will end the term by celebrating Christmas in Victorian style, recognising how many of the traditions we follow today were begun in this period.

Here are some of the books we will be using this term that you may wish to purchase and read with your child at home:

About Us

We are a small well-resourced Church of England primary school with 89 pupils currently on roll. At Milton, there is a strong Christian ethos that pervades all areas of school life. We have strong links with our local church and community. There is a good 'family' feel - we know each other well.

New children are assigned a 'buddy', settle well and make friends quickly. We are pleased to be a member of the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust. Click here for the PDET news page.
